The incident began around 1:40 a.m. Saturday on Manor Street when police responded to a report of a domestic assault, said Sgt. Robert Shawinsky.

When police arrived they found a woman with ripped clothing, a swollen lip and bruising on her face, police said.

The woman told police that she was breaking up with her boyfriend of several years, Olivan Caceres, 40, and that early that morning he had tried to force her to have sex with him, Shawinsky said.

The woman refused and Caceres threw her down and ripped her clothing trying to force her to have sex with him. She tried to call police numerous times during the attack, but each time he would grab her phone. During the attack, Caceres kept hitting her and pinned to the floor or couch and sexually assaulted her with his hand, the woman told police.

He then told the woman not to contact police or he would tell them she started it, Shawinsky said.

Police arrested Caceres and charged him with assault, unlawful restraint, threatening, interfering with an emergency call, sexual assault of a spouse, and strangulation. He is being held on $75,000 bond.
